Introducing Aptem

It’s our new employment support hub that’s available whenever you are.

Over the last decade, we’ve helped over 1,000 people into work and training. Our employment and UCAN teams have developed a comprehensive employment offer to help you get the job you want.

Now, we’re excited to announce a new, exciting step in our approach to employment support. All the job-related support you’d expect is now available through a clever online service called Aptem.

Aptem is a bit like having a job assistant on hand 24/7 to help with CV writing, job hunting, interview skills and more. It has all the tools you need to help you switch jobs or get back into work – all from your phone or laptop.

"Aptem is giving our customers the tools they need to get the job they want at a time that suits them. It’s a fantastic addition to our existing employment offer."

- Tony Cottam, Head of Employment and Enterprise at Bolton at Home.

Accessing Aptem is quick and easy. To get started, all you need to do is visit your local UCAN centre. One of our team will sign you up and show you how to use it. There’s nothing complicated to learn and set up takes just a few minutes.

According to Aptem’s developer, 62% of users found a job within three months (compared to the industry average of 20%).

  • It’s free
  • It’s on hand 24/7
  • It’s easy to use
  • It’s secure
  • It works (research shows users get a job quicker)

What Aptem can do for you

Once you have registered you’ll be able to:

Job search

The service brings together job opportunities from all the major job sites like Indeed and Monster. You can filter search results using keywords, salary range, contract type and location. Then you just add the jobs you’re most interested in to your shortlist.

Create a CV

A smart CV builder tool shows you how to create an effective CV, step by step. It gives you content suggestions, tailored to your skills and experience.

Watch e-learning videos

There’s an ‘advice centre’ packed full of award-winning e-learning videos on everything from staying motivated and financial support, to interviews and CV writing.

Get support

Get help and advice from the UCAN team through a direct messaging tool. Connect with your chosen member of staff during office hours.

And, while Aptem gives you the flexibility to job search on your own, at a time that suits you, you can still pop into your UCAN for advice whenever you need it.
